After an exhausting 24 hours of fan speculation, Taylor Swift announced her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. A rumor surfaced Monday morning when captioning, ‘Thinking about when she said, ‘See you next era, one of Swift’s marketing teams posted a carousel of 12 images.
Her website countdown to 12:00ET (05:12 BST), coinciding with her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce, revealing she’d be a guest on his podcast, New Heights, sparked further speculation.
Swift revealed the album title, sharing a sneak peek of Kelce’s podcast on social media and simultaneously making the record available for pre-order on her website.
Swift pre-ordering fans received a notification that the album would be shipped before the 13th, but insisted, “This is not the release date.”
The new music release window remains unconfirmed. The release saw Swift shattering records for the the the most-streamed album in a day with The Tortured Poets Department, her 11th album, releasing last year.
A change in strategy?

“Perhaps it’s the case of her former label… clearly, there’s a reason she hasn’t stopped singing about it.”
As she emphasized, the star “famously gives no interviews”. Thus, whatever her adoring followers receive from her is direct”. This includes posts through social media or remarks between songs at her concerts, such as the recent Eras tour.
An album update is “what she’s been thinking of, what she’s been feeling,” and, as Snapes said, “it’s really interesting” that Swift gave the update this way.
“It seems quite loose, a way we don’t get to see her in public,” the journalist said. “And I wonder if this is going to signal a shift in her media approach, or if it’s just her boyfriend’s podcast?”
Snapes said she will be “watching with interest” when the full podcast is released Thursday at midnight BST. Following the headlines from her record-breaking Eras tour, Swift has a relatively quiet January to March in 2024.
