A senior White House official has said that the American mobile phone company ‘Apple’ will invest an additional $ 100 billion in the United States, which will bring its total investment in the next 4 years to $ 600 billion.
According to the BBC News, the American media reported news of Apple’s further investment in the United States before it was officially announced at a White House event with President Donald Trump.
In February, Apple announced that it would invest more than $ 500 billion in the United States and employ 20,000 people, for which Donald Trump took credit.
The American technology company had called it its ‘largest investment in history’, which came at a time when tech companies are competing with each other to dominate artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
The investment is a further development on plans announced in 2021, when Apple said it would invest $430 billion in the US and create 20,000 new jobs over five years.
US President Donald Trump, who has been pressuring trade partners with tariffs, has been pushing US companies to move production back to the US, while also crediting Apple’s investment to his administration.
Apple reported a quarterly profit of $23.4 billion in late July, exceeding analysts’ expectations, despite facing higher costs due to the broad tariffs imposed by the Trump administration.
