Walmart+ Week set for June 17-23 With Exclusive Offers For Members

Date:

Walmart recently released a press release on Thursday, May 30, and plans to offer a week of deals and discounts for its inaugural Walmart+ members. The company’s general manager and senior vice president, Venessa Yates, announced a new twist: the inaugural mystery offer, coming June 20.

As Yates says, “Although I can’t say too much today, believe me… it’s going to be a very special experience.” Some of the deals that will become available are fuel discounts, 20% back in Walmart Cash when using the Mastercards for travel-related purchases like flights, hotels and car rentals, one free Express Delivery per month, and three free months of Walmart+ InHome service. That also means exclusive access to certain products (more on which later).

“Making Walmart+ Week a truly unforgettable time for our members is a big deal to us in 2021,” Yates said. According to Seeking Alpha on Thursday, the company has planned the event this year more strategically than last, making it happen prior to Amazon Prime Day.

For its part, Amazon announced on May 1 that Prime Day will fall during July, though exactly when remains under seal. In July of last year, Prime Day and Walmart+ Week Defense Build-Up happened concurrently.

As per financial intelligence experts, fewer people took part in Walmart+ Week in 2023 than Prime Day—20% versus 40%—but Wallmart+ Week shoppers spent about double. Where this additional expenditure came from, however, were grocery purchases—more than half of Walmart+ Week participants bought groceries, compared to half that number for Amazon Prime shoppers.

The study also stated that the primary driver for customers contributing to equal events was the potential for considerable bargains.
